HALF DAY ULTIMATE EXCURSION
 

The excursion departs Avalon harbor and travels on the leeward side of Santa Catalina Island. Once out of the harbor, your U.S. Coast Guard inspected, turbo charged raft will leap to life as you quickly accelerate to cruising speed. Your captain and crew explains the history of our colorful Island and its varied inhabitants along the way.

We explore many secluded coves and beaches up close and personal including Willow Cove, Long Point, Goat Harbor, Rippers Cove, Blue Caverns, Two Harbors and the Bat Cave

We make various stops to allow photos and to enjoy the Bald Eagles, Bison, Harbor Seals, dolphin and many other coastal land and sea inhabitants.

Crystal clear waters surround Catalina and allow for great snorkeling. We provide all of your snorkeling equipment and full instruction, if needed. No experience is necessary as snorkeling is easy to learn. With 50 to 100 feet of underwater visibility, and abundant sea life, our special snorkeling area is unsurpassed. We also have waterproof cameras available for great underwater photos

We will visit the rustic village of Two Harbors at the West end of the Island. We dock and allow you to explore this pristine Island village or take short hikes along the cliffs to enjoy the ocean vista. You can also enjoy a bite to eat in the snack shop at Two Harbors although we provide plenty of complimentary snacks and soft drinks on board.

During our return to Avalon we head offshore two to four miles in search of dolphin. We have three different species of dolphin that inhabit our local waters. These mammals travel in large pods and are very curious and playful. Upon finding a pod your Captain will position the raft within the pod and allow you to get eye to eye with these beautiful creatures. During our early season (Jan-Mar) we may also encounter the migrating Gray Whales.

During the winter months when the water is too cold to snorkel we shorten this trip to three hours and cut out our snorkeling stop. We also adjust the trip fare to reflect the shorter duration of the trip.

Video Mask – Rent a video mask when you book your trip for only $28.00. This is a regular snorkeling mask with a still and video camera built in.  As you are snorkeling you can take still or video pictures of the fish and scenery underwater.  Also take some great pictures of your friends as they are snorkeling along with you.  The camera works above the water also, so you can take video on the boat. The rental is good for the length of the snorkeling trip and at the end of your trip we transfer your pictures to a DVD so you can take them home with you. Be your own producer and director of your first underwater film starring you and your friends!

Underwater Camera – These cameras are available for purchase when you check in for your Catalina Ocean Rafting Adventure. These are waterproof, underwater and reloadable cameras.
