Snuba Adventure - Coastal Wild Dolphin Excursion - Catalina Express - Package #108

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION:
Your package includes round trip cross channel transportation from Long Beach aboard Catalina Express. Once on the island,  you will check in with Catalina Ocean Rafting for your Coastal Wild Dolphin Excursion. We will explore about 20 miles total on our trip. About 10 miles will be along the coastline and you will enjoy secluded coves and beaches rarely seen by visitors to the island. Your captain will explain the geology of the island and will point out the Bald Eagles, Harbor Seals, Hawks, Herons and flying fish along our route. We will then head offshore in search of dolphins on our return trip to Avalon. If we find a pod of dolphins, they will come up to the boat to say “Hi”, and they might even let you touch them. Get your cameras out because dolphins love to do tricks in front of the raft to show off!
After Lunch it will be time to check in at the Snuba counter at Descanso Beach for your Snuba Adventure.  Snuba is like scuba diving but without all of the heavy and cumbersome gear. You can breathe underwater through a hose connected to a surface air supply and dive up to 20 feet below the surface. It’s like snorkeling, but you can stay underwater without surfacing for air. The friendly staff will give you all the training you need to enjoy this activity. An instructor will also accompany you on your underwater adventure. No snorkeling or diving experience is needed to enjoy this activity, but you will need to know how to swim. The Snuba Adventure will last 1 ½ hours.
This package allows plenty of open time to enjoy Avalon on your own. If you prefer to add an activity during your open time we offer a one hour golf cart rental or a one hour electric bike rental which you can add to your package during check out. Feel free to customize your package by adding just the right activities for you!
The package also includes Discount coupons valid at many of Avalon’s best restaurants, shops and boutiques
Itinerary:
- 8:00 AM - Check in at Catalina Express, Downtown Long Beach Terminal (note 1)
- 8:30 AM – Depart for Catalina Island (note 1)
- 9:45 AM – Arrive at Catalina Island
- 9:45 – 11:15 AM – Open time for Breakfast/Shopping
- 11:15 AM - Check in with Catalina Ocean Rafting for your Coastal Wild Dolphin Excursion
- 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM – Coastal Wild Dolphin Excursion
- 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM – Lunch Break
- 2:15 PM or 3:15 PM – Check in at Descanso Beach Snuba counter
- 2:30 PM or 3:30 PM – Snuba Adventure
(Your Snuba Adventure will be scheduled at one of the two times above. Your activity voucher will have your scheduled time on it. Departure times depend on availability the day of your visit.)
- 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM - Open time to explore Avalon on your own. You can, if you wish, add a golf cart rental or electric bike rental during your free time. These extra items are available at check out.
- 7:00 PM – Check in at Catalina Express (note 2)
- 7:30 PM – Depart from Avalon to Long Beach aboard Catalina Express (note 2)
- 8:45 PM – Arrive in Long Beach (note 2)
(note 1) This schedule is for Saturday & Sunday through 6/24/10, thereafter daily from 6/25/10 - 9/06/10. Weekday passengers must take the 6:15 AM boat (5:45 AM check in) until 6/24/10.
March 26 - April 15, Catalina Express departs at 8:00 AM on Saturday’s only rather than 8:30 AM (check in at 7:30 am).
(note 2) On Fridays until 5/28/10, your return boat will leave at 8:50 PM (check in at 8:20 PM) and arrives in Long Beach at 10:10 PM.
What to bring and wear:
Wear your bathing suit with a set of clothes over it; towel; sunscreen; soft soled shoes, sandals, or flip flops; sweatshirt or jacket, and spending money (gratuities for activity crews are not included in package).
